Hungarian Horizons: The Magyar Model in Practice
Hosted by the Center for European Studies (CES) at Mathias Corvinus Collegium Alapítvány
Are you ready to spend a week at the crossroads of history, culture, and innovation? The Center for European Studies (CES) at Mathias Corvinus Collegium Alapítvány (MCC) invites international students aged 20-35 to join a 7-day winter program in Budapest, Hungary – a journey that goes far beyond the classroom.
What Awaits You in Hungary
Discover a nation that proudly bridges East and West. Over the course of a week, you’ll explore Hungary’s dynamic political, cultural, and economic landscape through lectures, debates, and hands-on experiences – all conducted in English.
You’ll engage directly with leading Hungarian academics and MCC professors as you delve into:
- Hungary’s political heritage, traditional values, and growth model
- Relations with the EU and recent political developments
- The country’s history, media landscape, and cultural policy
- Topical debates on education, family, gender, and anti-woke policies
- Hungary’s geopolitical role and strategies for navigating institutions
Experience Hungary Beyond the Classroom
Your learning will come to life through guided visits to the institutions shaping Hungary’s voice in Europe, including:
- The Hungarian Parliament Building
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- The Ministry of Culture and Innovation
… and many more!
You’ll also gain insight into Hungary’s industrial and cultural landscape through an exclusive factory visit and interactive cultural programs.
A Journey Through Central and Eastern Europe
The program extends beyond Budapest with a trip to Vienna, Austria, where participants will engage in regional discussions at Modul University Vienna, and a visit to the MCC Regional Center in Győr, showcasing how MCC’s influence reaches beyond the capital.
Participation Details
- Program Fee: €740 per participant (Covers accommodation, in-city transport, breakfast at Dean’s Home Budapest, lunch at MCC’s Scruton Café, entry fees, extra activities organized by MCC, and speaker sessions)
- Travel to/from Budapest and other costs related to the travel to and tay in Hungary (not listed in this call): Participants’ own responsibility
Accommodation
You’ll stay at Dean’s Home Budapest (Tűzoltó u. 50-56, 1094 Budapest), a modern residence featuring:
- Twin rooms with en suite bathrooms and kitchenettes
- 24-hour gym, study rooms, laundry, equipped kitchen, and a game room
Meals
- Breakfast: Included daily at the ground-floor café of Dean’s Home Budapest
- Lunch: Provided at MCC’s Scruton Café (please notify us of any allergies or dietary restrictions)
- Dinner: Individual choice – explore Budapest’s vibrant culinary scene!
Transportation
- Each participant receives a 15-day BKK public transport pass (covering metros, buses, and trams).
- Group travel to Vienna, Austria and Győr will be arranged by the organizers via private bus.
